Southern Door sees fall sports start

Southern Door has had a lot of success with their fall sports as of recently, and could see that success continue once again this year. Southern Door’s first event of the fall season was their football team kicking their season off with a scrimmage against Kohler.

The Cross Country teams will both be kicking their seasons off at the Chief K Invitational hosted by Gibraltar. Both boys and girls teams are returning their fastest runners, as Ben Grota and Brooke Strege are returning for the Eagles in the upcoming season.

The combined swim team will hit the pool on the 20th of August in a Pentathlon at Marinette High School. Sturgeon Bay Co-op returns their lone state qualifier from last season in Christy Braun, and look to continue their success into this next season. Southern Door’s top swimmers on the Co-op team return as Danica Neville and Brooke Strege will be back hoping for a state trip.

After getting swept in the opening round of the playoffs last season, the Eagles girls volleyball team will be looking to improve their chances for a deep run this season. Getting Allianna Dufek back is a great start for the team. After a fifth place finish in conference last year, the team only lost one senior and hopes that offseason work will make them into a serious conference contender.
