Eagles Drop Pair to Blazers Friday night on U102.1

The Southern Door Eagles fell to the NEW Lutheran Blazers in both games of their Friday night double header on U102.1

Even though the Blazers showed up to the ballpark not fully expecting the new 4:00 start time, the offense was ready as the Blazers put up a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Of the 4 game one runs that would score, three were put on base via pitching, including a pair of first inning walks in the first. Mac Hoffman walks come around to score.  Hoffman would settle down on the mound and set the Blazers down 1-2-3 in the second.

The only offensive tally the Eagles would score in game one came in the 5th inning.  Axel Anderson reached on a leadoff walk, and would be brought around from second thanks to a Collin Everard double the next batter. The Blazers however would get that run back in the top of the 6th, thanks again to a base loaded walk, scoring a runner that was put on via a HBP, giving the first game to the Blazers via a 4-1 score.

The second game however would start more promising for the Eagles.  Acting as the visiting team, Southern Door would strike right away. Colin Everard would double, Brock Delveaux would hit a RBI single, followed by a Caleb Guilette RBI single, and a Hoyt Austed RBI single to jump out to 3-0 lead that would be held until the third.

In the third inning, each team had a walk that came around to score, with Axel Anderson coming across the plate on a Chase Massart RBI single, giving the Eagles a temporary 4-0 lead.

The bottom of the 5th however would spell doom for the Eagles.  The Blazers would send 9 batters to the plate, including a stretch of 5 straight batters reaching base.  The Blazers scored 4 runs, overtaking the Eagles with the final 5-4 score.
