The Southern Door softball team is looking forward to this Monday as they are set to host the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans.
The Eagles are fresh off a pair of wins over Kewaunee in their doubleheader this past Thursday. In the first game, a Madyson Counard two-run homer proved to be the difference as it broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning. It was a part of 2-3 day for Counard, joining Alanah Kaye, recording two hits in the game. Kaye secured the win from the circle for the Eagles, allowing four runs (1 ER) on five hits while striking out nine across seven innings.
In game two, the Eagles put the game away with 10 runs on nine hits in the first inning. Hits from Lilly Vandertie and Samantha Melville were the frame's biggest blows as they each drove in a pair. The Eagles tallied one more run in the third inning before the game ended in the fifth. Vandertie, Melville, and Harper Kramer all had two hits in the game, while Kaye, Counard, Vandertie, and Melville also recorded two RBI. Melville allowed 0 runs on three hits while striking out four across five innings.
