Southern Door baseball took both in a competitive doubleheader on Tuesday, with the Eagles taking an 8-3 win in game one before overcoming game two with a 8-7 victory in extra innings.
In game one, Southern Door jumped out early and never fully let up, using a second-inning surge to build separation in an 8-3 win. Chase Massart, Collin Everard, and Caleb Guilette each drove in runs as the Eagles drew seven walks and added pressure on the bases with four stolen bases. Will Price earned the win, allowing just one hit over four-plus innings.
Game two flipped into a back-and-forth battle that went into extras. Southern Door walked it off in the eighth on a two-run single from Massart to secure the sweep. Mac Hoffman and Brock Delveaux helped spark the late rally, while Kody Wagaman closed the door in relief to earn the win.
Sturgeon Bay responded throughout the night, led by multiple-hit performances from Drew Propsom, Rylan Ruenger, and Jack Higginbotham, and took a late lead in the eighth before the Eagles finished the comeback.
