Kaye and Claflin Push Eagles Past Indians on U102.1

The #9 Southern Door Eagles made the first, and the last, bucket of the game, and every single point was crucial in the 57-59 victory over #8 Mishicot on U102.1 Tuesday night.

Southern Door would lead for a majority of the first half, giving up the lead for the first time 10 minutes into the game when Mishicot finally went ahead 18-17.  No team would have a lead larger than 6 in the first half, battling back and forth, hitting the halftime buzzer knotted up at 30 each.  Kyleigh Claflin led the half for the Eagles with 13, just a point ahead of their second leading scorer Alanah Kaye with 12.

The second half was just as contest as the first with no lead bigger than 7. Perhaps the game's biggest turning point came at the free throw line, where after going 12-14 in the first half as a team, Mishicot went cold at the line, shooting just 8-16 in the second half.

Alanah Kay would take a trip to the line in the closing seconds of the game, making the front end of a bonus attempt, putting the Eagles up by 2.  After a lane violation prevented the game from becoming a 3-point game, Mishicot would get across the half court line and call a timeout.  Coming out of their timeout, Mishicot would get the shot attempt the wanted, but with Kensi Rosenow missing, and the putback attempt falling short, Southern Door advances.

Kyleigh Claflin led all scorers on the night with 24.  Alanah was just behind her with 18.

The win sets the Eagles up with a Friday night matchup with #1 seed Manitowoc Lutheran who had a bye Tuesday.
