The Southern Door Eagles season finale did not go the way they would have hoped as they fell to the Mishicot Indians 40-8 on U102.1.
The game started with the teams exchanging long scoreless drives. Those four drives would take the game deep into the second quarter before a 5-yard rush by Mishicot's quarterback Benjamin Backus broke open the scoring. He would add a 4-yard touchdown yet in the half, and with each touchdown being complimented by a successful 2 point try, the Indians would lead 16-0 at the halftime break.
The second half did not start how the Eagles would have hoped when on the very first play of the opening drive, Backus would run for his third touchdown from 71-yards out. Backus was far from the only Indian that broke down the Eagles defense. Running back Jax Vogel did plenty of damage as well, carrying the ball over 20 times, including a pair of touchdowns.
The only Eagle touchdown of the game would come on a third quarter 1 yard keeper by Caleb Delwiche.
A special shoutout to the Seniors from this years squad who will be missed on the gridiron next season.
