As the 2025 football season enters the final month of the regular season, the Southern Door Eagles travel to take on the Kewaunee Storm on Friday night on U102.1 and NEW Radio Sports Network—the matchup features teams with two different goals for the final month.
Kewaunee enters the game with a 5-1 record with its sights on a Packerland Conference title. The only blemish on Kewaunee's record came in a non-conference, opening week loss to Racine Lutheran. Two teams are chasing Kewaunee in the standings, sitting at 3-1 in the conference. The Storm beat Bonduel 14-7 back on September 12th, and they will close the season on October 17th against Marinette.
The Storm enters Friday night's matchup off a 55-0 shutout over the Sturgeon Bay Clippers. It took just three plays for the storm to put the only points they would need on the board via a Waylon Delain 4-yard touchdown rush. In a recent interview with Kewaunee coach Randy Charles, he emphasized the importance of fundamental focus and refining small details for continued success. Looking ahead, Charles acknowledges Southern Door's explosive playmakers, noting they "will need to be accounted for in their game plan." Charles also reflected on the team's dominant 55-0 homecoming victory against Sturgeon Bay, noting that they successfully stayed focused despite distractions and capitalized on early scoring opportunities to cap off the homecoming week.
Southern Door on the other hand, is fighting to keep playoff hopes alive as the currently sit at a 2-4 overall 1-3 conference record. The Eagles are coming of a heartbreaking 23-20 homecoming loss to the Oconto Blue Devils in which turnovers spelled disaster. Multiple muffed punts set Oconto up with field position deep inside Eagle territory. Even with the turnover battle being won handily by Oconto, the Eagles had the ball with under two minutes to go, and two timeouts remaining. Oconto would force a turnover, however, and run the clock out on the Eagles' homecoming comeback hopes.
