Plzak's single the difference in Eagles' tournament win on U-102.1

A back-and-forth affair swung in the favor of the Southern Door softball team late as they clinched a regional title game berth with a 5-3 win over Chilton on Tuesday.

The Eagles answered the Tigers' first-inning tally with one of their own in the frame, thanks to Samantha Melville's baserunning ability on a pair of wild pitches. They would answer again in the fourth inning when the Eagles answered Mya Grenzer with two of their own, with more smart base running from Melville and Alannah Kaye. The Tigers tied the game in the sixth only to have the Eagles answer once again, this time on a two-out, two-run single roped by Audrey Plzak.

With Melville on the mound, the Eagles secured the win with a 1-2-3 inning to advance to Thursday's regional final at top-seeded Brillion.

Melville, Ashlynn Delfosse, Kaye, Plzak, and Ava Uecker all tallied hits in the win with Uecker and Paye collecting the RBI. Melville and Kaye combined to allow three runs (2 ER) on eight hits while stiking out three.
