It was the early and late innings that held all the scoring Friday night as the Sturgeon Bay Clippers come from behind to beat the Southern Door Eagles 6-2 in Brussels.
The Clippers leadoff batter, Patrick Haese, bunted for a base hit single. He was moved over to second by the next batter Bryce Plzak. Caleb Plzak would hit a ground ball to short, retiring Bryce, but the attempted double play relay throw to first was mishandled by the Eagles first baseman Nick Beck, which allowed Haese to score from third. In the bottom of the inning though, the Eagles own leadoff batter Tyler Neinas reached via a walk and be advance to second by a Drew Daoust groundout. A pair of back to back doubles by Nick Beck and Collin Everard drove in runs staking the Eagles to a 2-1 lead.
That 2-1 score would hold up until the 6th inning when the Clippers finally wore down Tyler Neinas. In the 6th they would send 9 batter to the plate, tying the game on a error by the Eagles center fielder allowing Stephen Prescott to score the tying run. The Clippers would then load the bases for Bryce Plak who rewarded the effort by driving the ball to the fence and a bases clearing double. Daoust would replace Neinas on the mound after that hit. The Clipper added one insurance run as well in the 7th on a bases loaded wild pitch and the final score of 6-2.
