A five-run second inning proved fatal for the Southern Door baseball team as they lost to Reedsville 7-6 on Tuesday.
The two teams traded runs in the first inning, with the Eagles answering a run-scoring single by the Panthers with one by Nick Beck in the first inning. Two errors and three walks in the second inning ended up dooming the Eagles, leading to those five runs. The Eagles were left chasing the rest of the night, levying their biggest threat in the fourth inning with three runs thanks to a dinger by Braylon Berg. The two teams would trade runs in later innings, but none that put the Eagles on top.
Isaac Baudhuin took the loss, allowing six runs (1 ER) on five hits while registering two strikeouts. In addition to his three runs, Valley had another hit to go 2-4 with two runs scored while Braylon Berg drove in three RBI.
The Eagles will host Gibraltar for a doubleheader on Friday. Both ends will be carried live on U-102.1 with Tim Kowols and Jacob Nate on the call.
