A 10-run first inning set the stage for Southern Door softball's 12-3 win Thursday against Weyauwega-Fremont.
The Eagles were down 2-0 when the onslaught occurred. They posted nine hits in the frame, including six consecutive singles that made it 6-2 before landing on a 10-2 advantage. Neither team would score again until the Indians pushed one run across in the fifth, only to be answered by an Ashlyn Delfosse RBI double and an Alanah Kaye single to make it 12-3.
Five Eagles players posted multi-hit games, with Delfosse collecting four hits and Reese Vogel, Madyson Counard, Kaye, and Samantha Melville each registering two hits. Delfosse also paced the Eagles with two RBI. After Kaye started the game with two innings of two-hit, two-run ball, Melville closed things out with five innings and 10 strikeouts, allowing one run (1 ER) on four hits.
