Eagles top Wolves in extras

For the second straight game, the Southern Door Eagles baseball team needed extra innings to secure the victory, beating Algoma 5-2 in 10 innings.

Both teams scored in the fifth inning, with Caden Pierre stealing a run for the Eagles while the Wolves registered their run on a groundout. It would remain that way until the 10th inning when the Eagles pushed across four runs thanks to a Braylon Berg triple and a two-run Isaac Baudhuin single. Baudhuin would come around to score as well. A Parker Lischka RBI single would narrow the Eagles' advantage, but Braeden Leist's pop-out ended the threat and the game for the Wolves with two men on base.

For the Eagles, Berg and Collin Everard each had two hits, with Baudhuin leading the way with two RBIs. Tyler Neinas picked up the win in relief of Drew Daoust. Carson Leist took the loss in relief of Charlie Prokash, who dazzled for 7 1/3 innings, allowing one run (0 ER) and two hits while striking out 10. Leist was on the mound for the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (four ER) on three hits and four strikeouts while striking out five. Braeden Leist went 3-5, and Jacob Massey went 2-4 in the loss.
