Eagles baseball brings brooms for Bulldogs

Southern Door took both ends of a DH against Peshtigo on Tuesday afternoon. Game 1 was a scoreless pitcher's duel between SD's Drew Daoust and Peshtigo's Ethan LaComb, until the Eagles broke things open with 7 runs on 6 hits in the bottom of the 4th inning. The most damage was done with a 2-out bases loaded 2-run single by Braylon Berg, followed by a 2-run double from Tyler Neinas. SD added 2 more runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 6th inning which eventually resulted in the 9-0 eagle victory. The hitting attack was led by 2 hits each from Berg, Neinas, Will Jandrin, Isaac Baudhuin, and Jerek Valley, with Neinas leading the way with 3 RBI.

Daoust and Baudhuin combined on the shutout, with Drew going the first 5.2 innings, and Isaac completing the last 1.1 innings. With Southern Door as the visiting team in game 2, the Eagles left little doubt about the outcome by scoring in every inning as follows: 1st inning - 2 runs; 2nd inning - 2 runs; 3rd inning - 5 runs; 4th inning - 4 runs; 5th inning - 3 runs. The 16 runs were produced by a 19-hit barrage, which resulted in a 16-2 Eagle rout. Berg, Jandrin, and Nick Beck led the way with 3 hits apiece, while Neinas, Baudhuin, Gage Geisel and Cash Nellis collected 2 hits each. The 5-run 3rd inning featured a 2-run HR from Cash Nellis, while 5 singles fueled the 4-run 4th inning rally.

Isaac Baudhuin went the distance for SD, allowing only 2 hits, with both Peshtigo runs being unearned.

The Eagles return to Packerland Conference play with a Thursday DH at Sturgeon Bay, with game 1 scheduled to start at 5:00pm.
