Eagles softball earns comeback win, plays Gibraltar Saturday

The Southern Door Eagles softball team trades blows with Two Rivers on Friday, coming out on the right end of a 6-5 win ahead of a doubleheader against Gibraltar on Saturday.

 

The Eagles struck first with a run in the first inning only to be tied an inning later. They would retake the lead in the fifth inning, only to have the Raiders take away in the bottom half of the inninSamantha Melville earned the win 2 2/3 innings of no-hit relief, striking out seven batters along the way.g. A three-run rally capped off by a Sophia Counard RBI single proved to be the difference with the Raiders only mustering a run the rest of the way to give the Eagles the win.

 

Counard led the way with two hits including a double and a pair of RBIs. Bella Price had the game's biggest blow with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning.

 

The Eagles are back at it tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. in Fish Creek.
