Three Door County teams head to Denmark Cold Vike Invite

The weather may actually cooperate on Saturday morning when the Denmark Cold Vike Invite takes place with three Door County teams in tow.

 

Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay, and Gibraltar will compete against Menasha, Pulaski, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, Howards Grove, Kohler, Roncalli, Wrightstown, and Saint Francis when the first events begin at 10:30 a.m.

 

In their meets earlier this week, the Southern Door  Eagles had eight boys first-place finishes to win the Oconto Track and Field quad. Zack Lynch won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and Ben Grota won the 800 and 1,600 to pace the Eagles.  Lynch also teamed with Makii Taylor, Alaric Urban, and Lauden Berg to win the 400 relay. Gannon Evers of Sturgeon Bay won both the shot put and discus throw. In the girl's meet, Southern Door had five top finishes in winning the quad. Frankie Nellis of Southern Door took honors in the long and triple jumps. She also ran with Kailey Guilette, Kyleigh Claflin, and Elise Jackson in the 800 relay and won with a time under two minutes. Jackson also took the top spot in the 100 hurdles. 

 

Ella Tarkowski and Tiviana Andropolis won the 100 and 200, respectively for the Sturgeon Bay Clippers. 

 

Braden Sitte and McKailey Reisen piled up the points for the Gibraltar track teams at Tuesday's Sevastopol quad meet. For the boys, Sitte won the 100m with a personal record, the 200m with a season-best, took third in the long jump, and helped lead his relay team to a second place finish. WIll Lecy (100m, 200m) also earned top three finishes. On the girls' side, Reisen won the high jump and 100m hurdles. Also cracking the top three for the Vikings were Bella Jones (100m, long jump), Hayden Knudson (200m), Rose Stackhouse (3200m), and Josie Martin (discus).
