The #2 Southern Door Eagles (24-4) will look to down the #1 seeded Freedom Irish (22-4) in WIAA Division 3 Sectional Semi-final action Thursday night in Green Bay.

 

The Eagles are coming off their first regional championship since 2018 as they defeated the Clintonville Truckers 54-49 last Saturday. 

 

Drew Daoust scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Eagles to victory, and a put-back basket by Matthew Malvetz was key to preserving the win.

 

Daoust says the team is rested and ready for Thursday’s showdown with the Irish.

Freedom is led by 6’ 7” freshman Donovan Davis, who scored 17.9 points a game for the season and pulled down an average of 9.6 rebounds.

The Irish, who finished second in the NEC, beat Amherst 81-38 and Waupaca 75-57 in their regional to advance to face Southern Door.

The game will be broadcast on 96.7 WBDK and streamed on New Radio Sports Network starting at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show and tip-off at 7 p.m. from Preble High School.  Jacob Nate and Paul Schmitt will have the call.
