Southern Door opens tournament run against Peshtigo on 96.7 WBDK

The wait is over for the Southern Door Eagles as they begin their road towards Madison on Friday with a matchup against Peshtigo.

The Eagles had to fight hard to stay perfect in the Packerland Conference on the final day of the regular season, edging Oconto 76-74. The game featured two of the conference's most dangerous scorers, the Eagles' Drew Daoust and the Blue Devils' Carter Koch. Both players scored approximately half of their team's points in the opening period, leaving the Eagles up 42-40 at the break. The Eagles would hold onto that advantage in the second half, with Daoust piling up 39 points in the victory. Tyler Neinas complemented Daoust with 19 points in the game, including 14 in the first half. The Eagles also got 10 points from Caden Pierre.

The Bulldogs earned their spot in the semifinals with a 55-49 win over Oconto Falls. Dominik Baxter scored 21 points, while Carter Roeder and Silas Williams each added 12 points in the win. They were swept in the season series by the Eagles, including an 83-41 loss in their last game that saw Daoust and Matthew Malvitz each scored over 20 points.

Jacob Nate and Bryan Mazur will have the call on 96.7 WBDK beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the tip at 7 p.m.
