Southern Door boys look to put final stamp on conference title vs. Kewaunee on U-102.1 Friday

The Southern Door boys' basketball team could ensure their Packerland Conference title streak stays intact with a win versus Kewaunee on Friday night.

In their last game, strength, speed, and length were used against the Gibraltar Vikings as the Eagles led wire-to-wire in a 79-51 victory. The Eagles jumped out to a fast start, partly thanks to Caden Pierre knocking down three quick shots from the outside, buying time for Drew Daoust to heat up after a cold start. Daoust was able to penetrate the Vikings' interior defense late in the period, scoring 17 of his game-high 27 points in the first half. Pierre registered 11 first-half points and Lauden Berg collected nine of his 14 points in the frame to help the Eagles enter the locker room with a 53-22 halftime lead. Following the win, head coach Josh Vandenbush talked about the importance of their matchup against Kewaunee.

The Storm's Thomas Stangel scored 24 points while Avery Jerabek and Connor Kilgore each scored 16 points as they routed Sevastopol 82-34 on Tuesday. Their lone Packerland Conference loss came against the Eagles in December. No other conference team is within four games of the Storm, making them the best chance to at least force the Eagles to share the title.

Matt Malvitz and Reece Robillard will have the call on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com from Brussels beginning at 7:15 p.m., with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m.
