Daoust goes for 2,000 points as Eagles boys face Algoma on U-102.1 Thursday

Drew Daoust is expected to build on his Door County and Packerland Conference scoring records while crossing the 2,000-point barrier on Thursday when Southern Door travels to Algoma Thursday night.

The Eagles staved off a Sturgeon Bay upset earlier in the week, winning the game 74-66. The Eagles entered the locker room with a 35-22 lead over their crosstown rivals, thanks to Drew Daoust scoring 21 of his game-high 42 points in the first half. The Eagles got 12 points from Caden Pierre, eight points from Tyler Neinas, and six from Matthew Malvitz. He is only seven points away from crossing the 2,000-point barrier.

It was a tale of two halves for the Wolves in Algoma last Friday, with the hometown team falling short against Peshtigo in a 45-42 loss. The Wolves outscored the Bulldogs 28-16 in the first half and had the favor returned to them when they were outscored 29-14 after the break. A big reason for the split was Parker Lischka, who scored 18 points in the first half thanks to four three-pointers. The Bulldogs' defense turned their focus to the Wolves star, who scored seven of his remaining nine points at the line to end his night with 27 points. The Wolves only made three shots from the field in the second half. Chase Romdenne scored seven points, and Grant Vandevest contributed five points.

Jacob Nate and Reece Robillard will have the call on U-102.1 beginning at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m.
