Southern Door baseball blanked by Kiel in Regional Title on U-102.1

The Southern Door offense went completely cold after Tuesday night's offensive eruption over Howards Grove, as the Eagles fell 3-0 to Kiel in the Regional Title game on U-102.1.

The game was a pitchers duel through the first two and a half innings of play, as the Eagles and Raiders would only have two hits combined. The bottom of the third however, Kiel put their first run on the board when Tate Hartlaub would score on a single from Jackson Neese to give Kiel a 1-0 lead.

Southern Door would go on a stretch where they would have nine batters retired in order, and Kiel would take advantage as in the bottom of the fourth they plated two runners in Grant Manz and Aaron Stephany giving Kiel the eventual final score at 3-0 in the fourth inning.

Southern Door would fight back in the fifth inning after a single from Alec Guilette would give the Eagles their first legitament threat since the second inning, but after Jack Peterson singled into right field, Jackson Neese showed off his strong throwing arm throwing Guilette out trying to take an extra base.

In one last effort for Southern Door in the seventh inning, Jared Hawkey would draw a walk, but Matthew Malvitz and Derek Schinktgen would strikeout swinging and looking respectively and Kiel became the regional champions.

Kiel will face the eighth seeded New Holstein Huskies next Tuesday as they once again pulled an upset beating Mishicot 3-1.
