Eagles baseball routs Tigers; face Kiel for regional title on U-102.1

The Southern Door Eagles baseball team struck early and often in their win over Howards Grove on Tuesday afternoon, as they defeated the Tigers 15-5 on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.

After Jaden Diller ended the top half of the inning on the mound by picking off a runner at 1st base, the Southern Door Eagles offense responded by giving him some run support. Jack Peterson would lead off with a double, Tyler Neinas would reach on a fielder's choice, and Jaden Diller would hit a sacrifice fly to the center fielder to make the game 1-0. Christian Counard would then walk, and a two RBI double from Will Jandrin would make the game 3-0 heading into the second.

Howards Grove would be shut down by Diller again, and this time the Eagles offense would answer again, scoring 11 runs in the second inning. 11 runs on 11 hits for Southern Door would be the recipe for success as Christian Counard and Jack Peterson would hit home runs in the inning for the home team, giving the Eagles a 14-0 lead after two long innings.

The game would be at a standstill until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Drew Daoust roped a double into the right center field gap, and a Tyler Neinas single would bring home the sophomore, making the game 15-0.

Southern Door pulled Diller after just two innings, and his pitch count under 30 pitches, meaning he is eligible to throw in the regional title game on Wednesday. Will Jandrin would relieve the starter, as he gave up five runs in the top of the fifth inning, after Drew Damrow hit a three run home run to make the game 15-5.

Southern Door will move on to the regional title game in Kiel on Wednesday after the Raiders defeated Brillion 6-3. New Radio Sports Network will have the call from Kiel beginning at 4:15 p.m. for the pregame show and 4:30 p.m. for the first pitch with Gary Barta and Reece Robillard.
