Southern Door High School

Southern Door softball season ends in New Holstein on U-102.1

The Southern Door Eagles softball team was not able to string together enough hits to generate much offense as the Eagles fell to New Holstein 4-1 on U-102.1 Thursday afternoon.

After a quiet top half of the first inning for Southern Door, New Holstein got things going right away. Jordyn Meyer would single into center field and then reach second on an error in the outfield. A sac bunt would move her to third, and then after catching the second out of the inning, Chloe Lustila would overthrow third base trying to catch Meyer being over-agressive, and the Huskies led 1-0.

Meyer would also record the second run for New Holstein in the third inning as she would once again single, then steal second base the very next pitch. After advancing to third, a passed ball would bring home Meyer to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.

Ashlyn Delfosse would try to spark the Eagles back into the game with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning, but would be answered back immediately by opposing pitcher Natalie Ziebell hitting a home run in the bottom half of the inning.

Southern Door would only be able to muster up four total hits throughout the entire game, as Ziebell for the Huskies would go all seven innings for the win and the regional title.
