Eagles softball opens WIAA regional with Kewaunee on U-102.1

The Southern Door Eagles softball team will be put to the test when they face off with the Kewaunee Storm in the regional semifinals on Tuesday afternoon on U-102.1.

Southern Door enters as the lower seed of the 4v5 matchup, but the two teams actually split the season series back on Wednesday May 10th. The Storm took the first game by way of a 6-0 shutout, but the Eagles bounced back with their bats beating Kewaunee game two 8-6. It truly will be a test to see which Southern Door team shows up for the round two game, the game one Eagles, or the game two Eagles. Southern Door finished tied for second in the Packerland Conference with Sevastopol and Algoma as the three teams tied at 11-5.

Kewaunee is entering the matchup with Southern Door on a bad note, losing their last six games, with their last two results coming as a 11-0 loss to Wrightstown and a 17-3 loss to the Algoma Wolves. The Storm will look to improve their run prevention against a team in Southern Door that can pile runs on in a hurry. Jenna Rohr has had a strong season for the Kewaunee Storm, and will look for at least one more gem of a game when she faces the Eagles.

Gary Barta and Jacob Nate will have the call from Brussels on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 4:15 p.m. for the pregame show and 4:30 p.m. for the first pitch between the Eagles and Storm in the WIAA Regional Semifinals.
