Southern Door baseball trounces Manitowoc Lutheran, battles Winneconne Saturday

In non-conference baseball at Manitowoc on Friday afternoon, the Southern Door Eagles defeated the Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers 10-2.

A Jack Peterson lead-off HR gave SD an immediate 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. The Lancers responded in the bottom of the 2nd with 2 runs on 2 hits, a walk, and an error. The Eagles regained the lead with 4 runs in the top of the 3rd, highlighted by a 2-out 2 RBI bases loaded single from Jared Hawkey. A 2-run HR
by Jaden Diller in the top of the 4th finished off a 3-run rally boosting the SD lead to 8-2. The scoring was completed for the day when Tyler Neinas drove in 2 runs on a 7th-inning 2-out single.

Nick Beck earned the victory in his varsity pitching debut, with solid support from his JV teammate, catcher, Mason Paye. Beck allowed 4 hits and 2 runs (only 1 earned) in his 5+ innings of work. Will Jandrin pitched 2 hitless innings to close out the win.

The Eagles go to (12-1) on the year, (10-0) in the Packerland Conference. They hit the road again Saturday for a non-conference DH at Winneconne, with the first game scheduled for an 11:00am start.
