Southern Door baseball sweeps two from Peshtigo

In a Packerland Conference baseball DH at Peshtigo on Saturday, the Southern Door Eagles took 2 games from the host Peshtigo Bulldogs. Game 1 saw SD move out to a 6-0 lead after 4 1/2 innings, but Peshtigo made it a game by plating 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning behind 4 hits, a walk, and an error. The Eagles answered immediately with 9 runs on 7 hits in the top of the 6th inning. The rally was jump-started by consecutive singles from Derek Schinktgen, Braylon Berg, and Jack Peterson. The exclamation point in the rally was a 2-run HR by Will Jandrin. When Jandrin pitched a perfect 6th inning, SD had a 15-5 victory in 6 innings. Jandrin led the Eagle hitting attack with 3-4, while Jaden Diller and Jack Peterson both went 2-3, Diller with 4 RBI and Peterson with 3 RBI. Christian Counard pitched 5 innings to earn the win, striking out 10, while walking 4.

With SD as the home team in game 2, the Eagles scored 2 runs in the 1st, added 3 in the 2nd, followed with 7 in the 3rd, and polished things off with 5 in the 4th for a 17-0 lead. A 3-run 5th inning for Peshtigo made the final score 17-3. Jack Peterson, Tyler Neinas, Jaden Diller, Jared Hawkey, and Will Jandrin all had 2 hits for SD. Tyler Neinas led the Eagles with 5 RBI, with Jaden Diller having 4 RBI for a 2nd consecutive game. Will Jandrin earned the win, pitching the 1st 4 innings, striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing a single hit.

With the 2 wins, SD goes to (9-1) on the season, (8-0) in the Packerland. The Eagles return to conference play with a DH at Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday.
