Eagles baseball brings winning streak to Manitowoc Lutheran

UPDATED 1:00 p.m: The game between Southern Door and Manitowoc Lutheran has been postponed due to weather.

The Southern Door Eagles baseball team takes a perfect record south on Monday to play Manitowoc Lutheran.

Southern Door swept a baseball DH at Algoma on Saturday. The Eagles answered a two-run rally by the Wolves with their own 2-run rally in the top of the 2nd inning behind a Jack Peterson RBI double, followed by a Tyler Neinas RBI single. The Eagles manufactured a run in the top of the 6th inning behind singles from Matthew Malvitz, Neinas, and Jaden Diller, eventually resulting in a 4-2 SD victory. Game 2 was never in doubt after SD plated 3 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 3rd inning, with Hawkey, Peterson, and Neinas getting hits. Hits from Diller, Christian Counard, and Malvitz increased the Eagle lead to 5-0 in the 5th inning. A 6th inning 5-run rally started by an Alec Guilette single and a Braylon Berg double, resulted in the game ended by the 10-run rule in the bottom of the 6th inning with a 10-0 final score.

Manitowoc Lutheran earned their first win in four tries their last time out with a 18-3 victory against Hilbert/Stockbridge.
