Eagles softball battles Notre Dame on the road

UPDATED 1:00 p.m: The matchup between the Eagles and Tritons has been postponed to a later date. 

 

The Southern Door Eagles softball team puts their winning streak on the line Monday afternoon when they head to Ted Fritsch Park in Green Bay to battle Notre Dame Academy.

 

On Saturday, the Eagles blew out the Algoma Wolves 19-4 blowout before dropping the second half of their doubleheader 9-8. Southern Door scored eight runs in the first inning and put the game well out of reach in the fifth inning with seven runs in the fifth in the six-inning game. Chloe Lustilla and Callie Miller each had three RBI, and five players had multi-hit games for the Eagles. In game two,  the Wolves scored in every inning by the sixth and stopped the Eagles short in the seventh to preserve the 9-8  victory. The Eagles saw Greta Gutschow and Tori Marchant each drive in two runs and Payton Gilbertson collected two hits in the loss. 

 

The Tritons saw a three-game winning streak where they dominated their opponents get snapped on Saturday with a 13-10 loss to Xavier at King Park on the UWGB campus. They take it to their opponents offensively, scoring double-digit run totals in six of their eight games, winning five of those matchups.

 

First pitch, weather permitting, is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
