Southern Door Softball opens with Sevastopol

A strong season from the Eagles softball team last year could be used as fuel for the 2023 season, as Southern Door opens up with the Sevastopol Pioneers Tuesday afternoon.

Losing just one senior from a 10-8 season could be a strong sign for success from the Southern Door Eagles this year. The power pitching duo of Ashlyn Delfosse and Chloe Lustila may cause trouble to opposing offenses which can complement the strong offense. The Eagles will look to improve from their fourth place finish in the Packerland conference last season, and build off the first round upset against Wrightstown in the postseason.

Sevastopol was one game away from the state tournament last year ultimately falling to Edgar 11-0 in the sectional finals. Much like Southern Door, Sevastopol returns the majority of their team, only losing three seniors. Many of the basketball stars that made a deep run into the playoffs could potentially play for Sevastopol such as Bailey and Naomi Rikkola, Libby Ash and Addison Schauske. The Pioneers will be playing in the second half of a back to back after taking on Coleman Monday afternoon.

First pitch from Southern Door is set for 4:00 p.m.
