Southern Door's season ends in hands of Campbellsport on U-102.1

The Southern Door Eagles 19 game winning streak and their season came to a screeching end Saturday night as they fell 43-36 on U-102.1

Campbellsport began the night red hot on both ends, jumping out to a 5-0 lead, but holding Southern Door to no points in the first six minutes of the game. Drew Daoust would end that drought with a pair of free throws, and would actually give the Eagles the lead eventually at 8-5.

The Eagles and Cougars would go back and forth throughout the entire first half, with neither team leading by more than two points at a time. Daoust would lead the offense for Southern Door, and Mitchell McCarty led the way for Campbellsport.

After a last second shot from Campbellsport, Drew Daoust hit a long stepback three to give the Eagles a two point lead going into halftime at 21-19. Daoust would have 15 at the half.

Campbellsport would switch things up in the second half and go to an extended 1-3-1 zone defense which would end up messing with the flow of the Eagle offense. Another extended scoring drought for Southern Door in the second half would fuel the momentum for Campbellsport.

Clutch free throws at the end of the game for Campbellsport iced away the game for the Cougars, giving them their first regional title since 2005. Campbellsport will take on Brillion next Thursday in the Sectional Semifinals.
