Southern Door's Delfosse reflects on season; school three-point record

The Southern Door Eagles girls basketball team made huge strides in their performance this year compared to last season, and you can bet Ashlyn Delfosse made huge contributions to that.

Southern Door was knocked off by the 9 seeded Algoma Wolves Tuesday night, ending their season in the first round. The Eagles and Delfosse however, are not viewing this as a down year. Southern Door finished the year at 14-11 overall and 9-7 in the Packerland conference, improving those records vastly from the past season.

Delfosse herself improved as well, becoming a stronger three point shooter, improving her percentage by nearly 13%, going from 17.4% her freshman year, to a solid 30.3% this current season. That improvement also helped her increase in points per game this season, going up to 11 points per game.

The real reason that Delfosse has gotten a larger spotlight as of late was the record she broke in their February 16th 67-39 win over NEW Lutheran. For 30 years the record of seven three-pointers made in a game stood tall in Southern Door school history. Although it had been close to being touched multiple times before, it was Delfosse who broke it with eight in a 26 point outburst.

She talked about that feat before the matchup with Algoma Tuesday.

The Eagles will have a bright future ahead of them for the next few seasons, as Delfosse and her teammates grow with their first year in the system of Head Coach Andy Bruess.
