DCU Swim Team cruises in conference relays meet to victory

The Door County United girls swim team had another successful finish last night in the Conference Relays meet held at the Door County YMCA. The team finished first overall scoring a total of 142 points. The team finished 30 points higher than the second-place team, Seymour High School. DCU finished 1st overall in 5 out of the 11 events of the night. In the remaining 6 events, the team never finished below 4th place. The 200-yard medley relay, consisting of Julia Michalski (SBHS), Christy Braun (SBHS), Cassie Rankin (SEV), and Regan Kasten (SBHS), finished almost 10 seconds faster than the second-place team. Kayleigh Erickson (SDHS), Rose Schommer (SBHS), Hannah Schley (SDHS), and Shambo Weinke (SBHS) had their opportunity to score varsity points for the first time this season with their 4th place finish in the 100-yard freestyle relay. DCU had an outstanding end to the swim meet with a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Swimmers Cassie Rankin (SEV), Brooke Strege (SDHS), Sayna Weinke (SBHS), and Julia Michalski (SBHS)  finished 16 seconds faster than the second-place team. The team will take on Shawano High School on Thursday, September 8th in their next conference matchup. The team will also be hosting a Culver’s Night on Tuesday, August 30th from 5-8 p.m. (5581 Gordon Road Sturgeon Bay). Please come out to support our swimmers!
