Eagles burned by Blazers on 104.1 WRLU

A 14-0 run midway through the first half proved to be the deciding factor in Southern Door's 70-60 loss to NEW Lutheran Thursday night in Brussels.

The Eagles opened the game with a 6-0 run of their own, holding the Blazers scoreless over the first five minutes. The Blazers only needed half that time to not just catch the Eagles but to double them up as Lucas Dhein and Henry Huguet each hit a three to lead the Blazers halfway through with seven points apiece. Drew Daoust started to shoot out of his slump in the latter stages of the half to score eight points through 18 minutes of play.

The scoring heated up in the second half, but the Eagles just could not get over the hump. Nic Pierre drilled five threes after the break to score a team-high 15 points. Jared Hawkey scored 11 of his 13 points and Taylor Schaefer tallied eight of his ten points after the break. Daoust finished the game with 14 points, but the Eagles could not get closer than five points the rest of the way despite outscoring the Blazers 44-42 in the second half. Dhein led all scorers with 19 points while Charlie Sabel (15 points), Huguet (11 points), and Elijah Meerstein (13 points) all reached double figures.

The  Eagles will next play on Tuesday night at home when they welcome New Holstein. Tim Kowols and Jacob Nate will have the call on 104.1 WRLU and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7 p.m.
