Eagles boys falter in the second half against Storm on 104.1 WRLU

The Southern Door Eagles boys' basketball team could not solve Kewaunee's stifling defense in its 61-40 loss in Kewaunee Monday night.

The two teams could not get into an offensive groove with the Storm blitzing passing lanes and the Eagles altering shots to that point that neither squad could get on the scoreboard at a consistent clip. The Eagles could not capitalize on the early foul trouble by the Storm, who would go on a run late in the first half to take a 26-18 lead into the locker room.

The defense came out in force in the second half for the Storm, frustrating the Eagles' offense as they turned several steals into easy buckets. The Eagles would get it into single digits about halfway through the second half, but the offense would stall after that while Cameron Cullen and Ben Heim would combine for 18 of their 28 to put the Storm in the driver's seat. Cullen and Heim each had 14 points while Sawyer Pribek added 10 points. Taylor Schaefer led the Eagles with 12 points, securing many of his buckets after offensive rebounds. Drew Daoust added 10 points in the loss.

The Eagles will not be able to keep their streak alive after Peshtigo won its final conference game over Oconto Monday night. They are back in action Thursday to face NEW Lutheran.
