The Southern Door School District Trap League just finished its first season and was a “smashing success” with 28 middle & high school students participating. Each student that participated received a Wisconsin State High School Clay Target League patch. The overall high gun for the season was Jacob Fritschler with an average of 22.33.

The success of this program was due to the school's providing students with this opportunity to try a sport that they can enjoy for a lifetime. Students’ 6th -12th grade participated. Without the inspiration and dedication of Kim Welch as head coach, and the Gardner Rifle Club’s awesome support, none of this would have been possible! We also would like to thank the following for their contributions: Beth Jeurink, Bryon Geisel, and Jacob VandenPlas (certified coaches); Linda Bunge (Covid screener); and Sue Fritschler (trap secretary) for all their time and effort. The club also appreciated the tremendous support from the parents of students involved.

Some of the students shot in both the Door County Youth Trap League as well as the Southern Door County District League. The two leagues combined for an end of the year FUN SHOOT. Top guns for the FUN SHOOT were: perfect scores of 25 were earned by Tyler Plzak with dad as his buddy and Trevin Veeser with dad as his buddy with another perfect score of 25; scores of 24 were earned by Lily Czoske with her buddy Coach Beth and Logan Blasier with Grandpa Gary Gould. To add to the celebration, the club would like to thank Econo Foods and Fish Farm & Game for the food and refreshments.
