Gibraltar boys welcome Oconto on 105.1 The GOAT Friday

The Gibraltar Vikings boys' basketball team looks to snap a seven-game losing streak Friday night when they face Oconto for the second time this season.

The Vikings went 0-for-January, failing to crack 40 points in four of the seven games. In their last game, the Vikings lost to NEW Lutheran 54-35 thanks in part to a cold start to the game that found them down 31-13 at the break. No Vikings players reached double figures, but they were led by Braden Sitte with eight points while Marshall Maltby and Aaron Brey each added seven points. Head coach Travis Ward says they are getting healthier and getting players back from a variety of reasons and he hopes that translates to more success on the court.

The Blue Devils have seen them slip down a spot or two in the Packerland Conference as they go through their own three-game losing streak, including losses to Sturgeon Bay (74-58) and Algoma (60-57) last week. In the first meeting between these two teams, Carter Koch erupted for 27 points as the Blue Devils won the game 59-49. Sitte led the Vikings with 17 points with Maltby chipping in with 13 points.

Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the tip-off at 7:30 p.m. It will be the same story on Monday when the Vikings head around the bay to face Peshtigo.
