Gibraltar boys can't catch Oconto on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings boys' basketball team got to within four points twice in the second half but could not get any closer as they fell to the Oconto Blue Devils on Friday night 59-49.

The Blue Devils jumped out to an early double-figure lead behind Carter Koch's 14 points in the opening half, with two other players scoring at least six points. Braden Sitte and Marshall Maltby kept things close, with each scoring 10 points in the frame, with the former's free throws making it a 35-27 Blue Devils lead at the break.

A run of poor shooting for both teams allowed the Vikings to get within single digits throughout the second half to as little as four points halfway in. Koch would keep the Vikings at a distance, ending his evening with 27  points, while Trenton Hartman added nine points, and three others scored at least five points. Sitte scored 17 points, and Maltby added 13 points in the loss while Jeffrey Mize chipped in seven points.

The Vikings' next game will be on December 14th when they host Peshtigo.
