Packers travel east to battle the Patriots

The Green Bay Packers are heading to Foxborough, Massachusetts, to take on the New England Patriots in a 3:25 p.m. showdown.

In the Packers' last game, Green Bay got off to an ominous start against the Carolina Panthers. Carolina capitalized on a fumbled kickoff return to take a 3-0 lead before Trey Smack missed the extra point following a Jordan Love touchdown pass to Tucker Kraft. The Panthers regained the lead, 10-6, early in the second quarter.

The Packers settled in from there, with Josh Jacobs scoring two touchdowns around a Matthew Golden score to give Green Bay a commanding 27-10 lead midway through the third quarter. The scoring run was highlighted by two long passes to Christian Watson, who was later hospitalized with a broken rib and concerns about a possible lung injury.

The Panthers narrowed the deficit with a field goal and a touchdown, but their final two drives came up empty, allowing the Packers to secure the victory.

Love completed 30 passes for 288 yards, three touchdowns and one interception to lead Green Bay's passing attack. Watson had eight receptions, Golden added seven, and Jacobs and Kraft each finished with at least six catches.

The Packers' rushing attack continued to struggle, averaging just 2.5 yards per carry and totaling 66 yards. That included an 18-yard run by Savion Williams on an end-around. Green Bay's defense forced three turnovers, including two fumble recoveries.

The victory improved the Packers' record to 5-3 as they prepare to face a Patriots team that is also 5-3 following a narrow victory over the Miami Dolphins.
