For the first time since the Braves beat the New York Yankees in 1957, Milwaukee is the home of the World Series Champions.
The Milwaukee Brewers won their first World Series title in franchise history Wednesday, knocking off the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 to win the series 4-1.
Jacob Misiorowski did not need much help from his offense as he threw nearly six innings of two-hit shutout ball before departing. The Brewers had done their damage offensively by that point, with Cooper Pratt singling in a run in the second inning before coming around to score on a David Hamilton single in the fifth inning. William Contreras doubled in Christian Yelich to make it 3-0 in the sixth inning before Pratt drove in his second run of the game on a sacrifice fly. The Rays scored on closer Trevor Megill with a double by Chandler Simpson in the ninth inning, but Brice Turang threw out Richie Palacios on a ground ball to ensure the Commissioner's Trophy came home to Milwaukee.
The Brewers are scheduled to begin their title defense at home on March 25th against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, but a work stoppage is projected to delay the start of the season.
