Phoenix men welcome Golden Eagles for exhibition

Category: Local Sports

The Green Bay Phoenix will host their second major in-state opponent of the exhibition season on Monday when they play the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Last Thursday, the Phoenix fell apart late in their upset bid of the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday, falling in their exhibition opener 96-77. The Phoenix gave the Badgers all they could handle in the first half, leading for the majority of the period and even holding on to a 10-point lead with five minutes to go. The Badgers flipped the script in a hurry, ending the half with a 19-8 run to go into the locker room with a 43-42 lead. That momentum carried into the second half with a 10-0 run and eventually outscored the Phoenix 53-35 after the break. Marcus Hall led the Phoenix with 19 points, while Ne'quan Brown added 13 points and Ahmere Carson contributed 11 points.

The Golden Eagles' matchup against the Phoenix will be their first of two exhibitions this season. They will turn around and host Michigan State on Sunday.

Monday's game tips off at 6:30 p.m.
