Phoenix men can't hold off Badgers in exhibition

Category: Local Sports

The Green Bay Phoenix fell apart late in their upset bid of the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday, falling in their exhibition opener 96-77.

The Phoenix gave the Badgers all they could handle in the first half, leading for the majority of the period and even holding on to a 10-point lead with five minutes to go. The Badgers flipped the script in a hurry, ending the half with a 19-8 run to go into the locker room with a 43-42 lead. That momentum carried into the second half with a 10-0 run and eventually outscored the Phoenix 53-35 after the break.

Marcus Hall led the Phoenix with 19 points, while Ne'quan Brown added 13 points and Ahmere Carson contributed 11 points.

The Phoenix will go back to work on Monday with another in-state showdown against Marquette. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
