Gamblers fall to unbeaten Cedar Rapids

Category: Local Sports

Green Bay has shown some early-season struggles and fell 4-1 to the undefeated Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Tuesday.

The Gamblers struck first when Logan Cotter found the back of the net at 10:44 of the opening period, but the lead did not last. Ruben Westerling tied the game at 14:08 before David Bosco scored just over three minutes later to give Cedar Rapids a 2-1 advantage heading into the first intermission.

Jack Willmert extended the RoughRiders’ lead with the only goal of the second period before Carter Ernst added another in the third to put the game away.

Green Bay finished with 33 shots but was unable to find another goal after Cotter’s first-period tally. The Gamblers also went 0-for-2 on the power play.

The loss drops Green Bay to 1-3-0-0 on the young season, while Cedar Rapids remains perfect at 7-0-0-0.
