For once it was the Green Bay Packers that came from behind in the fourth quarter to steal a football game as they beat the New York Jets 20-17 in overtime on Sunday.
A six-yard pass from Jordan Love to Marshawn Lloyd opened the scoring for the Packers midway through the second quarter, but the Jets scored 17 unanswered points to give themselves a 17-7 advantage with over eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The Packers were able to tie the game with a three-yard touchdown pass from Love to Christian Watson and a field goal by Trey Smack. Thanks to some clock mismanagement by the Jets, the Packers were able to run the clock out on their final drive in regulation, forcing the game into overtime. After the Packers' defense turned away the Jets' advances, Smack drilled a 26-yard field goal to help the Packers snap a six-game losing streak dating back to last year.
Love did enough to lead the Packers to victory, throwing for 145 yards and two scores while Kaleb Johnson led the rushing attack with 32 yards. Golden led the team in receiving with four receptions for 58 yards. Lukas Van Ness had a huge game on defense, recording six tackles, including three that were for a loss, including on a 4th-and-1 play that would have all but clinched the game for the Jets.
The Packers will have a short week to prepare for their home opener on Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons.
