The Kolberg Braves used home runs not once, but twice to extend the game before eventually beating the Sister Bay Bays 10-9 in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon.

 

The Braves boasted a 3-0 lead early after Nick LeCaptain singled in one run and Trevor Reinhardt singled in another two runs in the top of the second inning. The Bays offered their retort an inning later when Spencer Krause squeezed a ball under the mitt of Charlie Neinas to drive in a pair to make it 3-2.

 

 

The one-run deficit was short-lived as the Braves answered with two runs in the fourth inning, with Jack Peterson and Austen Dart providing the offense to extend the lead back to 5-2.

The Bays eventually took the lead in the fifth inning after Griffin Cole's single drove in a pair of runs before Matt Hecht and Sawyer Johnson each drove in runs to give the team a 6-5 lead, and Krause tacked on another run in the sixth to make it 7-5. Charlie Prokash's RBI single cut the lead in half in the seventh inning before Austin Rohe's homer tied the game in the eighth inning. The Bays made their own comeback of sorts in the bottom of the eighth inning when Stew Larsen singled in Sam Forkert and Tom Sawyer to give them a 7-5 lead in the eighth inning. The Braves were down to their final out in the ninth inning with a man on when Reinhardt delivered his second two-run hit of the evening, this time depositing it on the hill in right field to tie the game at nine.

 

After the Bays went quietly in the ninth inning, the Braves were down to their final out in the 10th inning when a weakly hit ball off the bat of Devin Schinktgen went off the mitt of Forkert, allowing Tyler Neinas to score to make it a 10-9 game.

 

 

The Bays loaded the bases in the bottom of the tenth inning, but Chubs Laughlin grounded out to end the game and give the Braves the playoff title.
