Badgers, Irish battle at Lambeau

The first regular-season game at Lambeau Field this fall belongs to the NCAA and not the NFL.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will host the Wisconsin Badgers in its 13th Shamrock Series game on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

The Fighting Irish went 10-2 in 2025 and were ranked No. 10 in the final AP poll and No. 11 in the final Coaches Poll. Wins over No. 20 USC and No. 23 Pittsburgh elevated their resume, but losses to No. 10 Miami (FL) and No. 16 Texas A&M earlier in the season ultimately kept them out of the College Football Playoff, which later caused them to withdraw from bowl consideration.

The Badgers stumbled to a 4-8 regular season, including a 17-7 loss to Minnesota in the Battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe. It was the first time the Badgers had consecutive losing seasons since they had eight consecutive losing seasons from 1985 to 1992.

This marks the end of a two-game neutral-site series between the Badgers and the Irish. In 2021, the No. 12 Irish outscored the No. 18 Badgers 31-3 in the fourth quarter to win the game at Soldier Field 41-13. Sunday's game at Lambeau was originally supposed to be played in 2020, but postponed due to the pandemic.
