Bays, Braves battle for playoff title

A consistent sight in the final of game of the 2026 Door County League season will once again take the field on Sunday as Sister Bay welcomes Kolberg for the playoff championship game.

The Bays battled back from a 4-1 deficit midway through the game to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Baileys Harbor A's 5-4. After Sam Forkert had 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning, the first four batters reached against Danny Lodl and Ethan Kratcha before Alex Laughlin won the game on an RBI sacrifice fly that brought home Stew Larsen. For the Bays, Larsen and Spencer Krause had two hit days while Laughlin drove in a pair. Forkert went the distance for the Bays, allowing four runs (4 ER) on 10 hits and four walks while striking out 12.

The Braves jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never let go as they advanced to the Door County Baseball League Playoff Championship game with a 5-2 win over Washington Island. The Braves used a pair of fly outs and a bases-loaded walk to score three runs in the first inning while adding insurance runs in the second inning on an Austin Rohe RBI double and a wild pitch in the third inning. For the Braves, Rohe and Jack Peterson each had two hits while Rohe, Austen Dart, Tyler Neinas, and Nick LeCaptain delivered RBI. Trevor Reinhardt earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs (1 ER) on 10 hits while striking out five.
