The Sister Bay Bays battled back from a 4-1 deficit midway through the game to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Baileys Harbor A's 5-4 and secure hosting duties for next Sunday's playoff championship game.

 

The Bays struck first in the opening inning when Spencer Krause singled in Stew Larsen to make it 1-0. The A's tied the game in the top of the second inning when Hatcher Reetz singled in Danny Lodl before they scored three runs in the fourth inning courtesy of RBI singles by Bryce Plzak and Owen Dannhausen and a run-scoring fly out by Aaron Brey to make it 4-1.

 

 

The Bays would chip away at the advantage over the course of the rest of the game. Alex Laughlin made it 4-2 with an RBI groundout in the fourth inning, and Hobbs Emerson scampered home on a wild pitch to make it 4-3 in the fifth inning. The Bays had a chance to tie the game or take the lead in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and two outs, but Danny Lodl struck out Casey Weddig to keep hope alive for the A's.

 

 

After Sam Forkert had 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning, the first four batters reached against Lodl and Ethan Kratcha before Laughlin won the game on an RBI sacrifice fly that brought home Larsen.

 

 

For the Bays, Larsen and Krause had two hit days while Laughlin drove in a pair. Forkert went the distance for the Bays, allowing four runs (4 ER) on 10 hits and four walks while striking out 12.

 

For the A's, Plzak contributed three hits while Brey had two. Kratcha took the loss, allowing a hit and a walk. Brey and Lodl combined to strike out six while allowing five runs (4 ER) on seven hits and seven walks.

 

The Bays will stay at home for next Sunday's playoff championship against Kolberg. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 1:15 p.m. followed by the first pitch at 1:30 p.m.
