The Door County Baseball League gets their playoffs underway on Sunday with two matchups, including Sister Bay hosting Baileys Harbor.
The Bays clinched their spot by winning the regular season title with a 12-2 record. a game ahead of Kolberg and two games ahead of Washington Island. They beat Egg Harbor 10-2 in their last game and entered the weekend with Tom Sawyer, Spencer Krause, Stew Larsen, and Griffin Cole all registering a batting average north of .300.
The A's needed a come-from-behind victory in a play-in game to secure their first playoff spot since 1998. In their 9-8 victory over Maplewood on Sunday, homers from Isaac Baudhuin (1H) and Owen Dannhausen (3H) stole the show as they combined for four hits and six RBI. Aaron Brey (3), Danny Lodl (2), and Josh Hartel (2) also had multi-hit games. Lodl got the win, allowing one run (1 ER) on three walks and three hits while striking out seven.
The two teams split their matchups during the regular season with each team winning their respective home game by scores of 8-3 Bays on May 10th and 5-4 A's on June 28th.
Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 1:15 p.m. ahead of the first pitch at 1:30 p.m.
On the otherside of the bracket, Kolberg welcomes Washington Island for the rubber match of their season series. After the Islanders took game one on the island 8-5, the Braves won 9-3 in the season finale. In that game, the Braves' Trevor Reinhardt went 4-5 with four RBI while four others had multi-hit games to support Tyler Neinas on the mound, who got the win by allowing three runs (1 ER) on three hits and two walks while striking out three across five innings. The Islanders got a three hit game from Caleb Cornell, but not much else as Ryan Jorgenson took the loss, allowing five runs (5 ER) on 10 hits and three walks across 3.2 innings. The game will begin at 1:30 p.m.
If Sister Bay wins, they will host the championship game on September 6th at 1:30 p.m. A loss would send Baileys Harbor to either Kolberg or Washington Island.
