The Green Bay Blizzard come home from Tuscon, Arizona for the second year in a row empty handed after losing to the Arizona Rattlers 62-51 in the IFL National Championship game.
The Blizzard held onto a slim lead for much of the first half, scoring the game's first nine points and IFL MVP Liam Thompson throwing a pair of touchdown. A touchdown thrown by former Blizzard quarterback Max Meylor tied the game 23-23 at halftime. The game would get tied up at again at 32 and 39 before a 47-yard kickoff swung the momentum in favor of the hometown Rattlers the rest of the evening, eventually sending the Blizzard to their second straight championship game loss.
Thompson threw for 116 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 106 yards and a score to prove his MVP credentials. Trevon Alexander grabbed five balls for 51 yards and two scores through the air.
The Blizzard end the season 15-4 on the season with all four losses coming away from Resch Center.
