The Kewaunee Chiefs could not get the bats going in what proved to be their final game of the season on Thursday, falling to Denmark 10-0 in the Shoreland League Playoffs.
The Devilbears jumped on pitcher Brett Paulsen early, scoring three runs in the first inning courtesy of a two-run single by Rheis Johnson that was preceded by a wild pitch that also allowed a run. The game was put out of reach in the fifth inning when the Devilbears tallied six more runs before they put the game on ice with one more run in the sixth. The game ended after a scoreless seventh inning.
Reese Berg, Alex Rohr, and Connor Kilgore tallied the only hits for the Chiefs. Paulsen took the loss, allowing nine of the 10 runs (9 ER) on four hits and seven walks while striking out six across 4.1 innings.
Casco will try to avenge their fellow Kewaunee County squad next week and the Shoreland League Championship gets underway.
