The playoff picture can get a major shake-up on Sunday with all eight teams in action, including the 105.1 The GOAT Game of the Week when Sister Bay visits Egg Harbor.
The Bays topped Kolberg 3-2 on the road last weekend to move into sole possession of first place. Tom Sawyer had two of the team's six hits to go along with two walks. Sam Forkert and Sawyer Johnson also got hits. Forkert got the win, allowing two runs (2 ER) on four hits and three walks while striking out six across eight innings. Matt Hecht picked up the save. The Indians could play spoiler for a second weekend in a row after officially dashing West Jacksonport's hopes with a 7-4 victory. Drew Price has three hits while Brady Kita and Drake Olson had two hit games. Nick Kita drove in three runs while Price drove in a pair. Price got the win on the mound, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six.
A battle for a home playoff game will be in Kolberg when Washington Island travels the length of the peninsula to face the Braves. The Braves' Nick LeCaptain went 2-4 with an RBI to lead the team. Trevor Reinhardt took the loss, allowing three runs (2 ER) on four hits and three walks while striking out five across five innings. The Islanders fought back from an early deficit, but fell to Maplewood 8-7 in 11 innings. Caleb Cornell, Luke Geiger, Ray McDonald, Cam Munao, and Alex Johnson all had two-hit performances with McDonald (2) and the Geigers (1 each) recording the RBI. Bennett Isaacson-Krueger took the loss, allowing six runs (6 ER) on 10 hits and five walks while striking out one across six innings.
Baileys Harbor is holding onto the final spot in the playoffs after demolishing Institute 18-0 in eight innings last Friday. Aaron Brey led the way with four hits and seven RBI while Ethan Kratcha and Caleb Plzak had three hits and OwenDannhausen, Danny Lodl, and River Pawelski all had two hits. Dannhausen and Plzak each drove in three runs while Kratcha knocked in a pair. Brey did not need much help on the mound as he went 7.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits and a walk while striking out 15. They play at West Jacksonport, which is coming off a 7-4 loss to Egg Harbor. For the Ports, Woody Schartner went 3-3 and an RBI while Cordier drove in three runs.
An A's loss could open the door for Maplewood, which is one-game behind Baileys Harbor in the standings after tipping Washington Island 8-7 in 11 innings last Sunday. The Mets overcame six errors thanks to three-hit, one RBI performances from Nolan Wagner and Jaden Diller while Gavin Brady and Kordell Draves each had two hits. Tory Jandrin got the win, allowing three runs (2 ER) on five hits and a walk while recording a strikeout across five innings of work. Institute would love to play spoiler as they look their first win of the season. Caleb Hoffman had two hits while Nick Peterson and Robbie Pollman tallied the other two in 18-0 loss to Baileys Harbor in their last game. Siggy Hansen struggled as he allowed 18 runs (18 ER) on 18 hits and 14 walks while striking out in a complete-game effort.
